Yogurt & Eczema
Contains dairy proteins and some fermentation-derived histamine, but partial protein breakdown means about half of milk-allergic children can tolerate it. A middle-ground dairy food.

Reaction Timeline
IgE-mediated reactions are quick; delayed eczema flares from non-IgE pathways take 12–72 hours. Histamine effects fall in the short-delay window (2–12 hours).
How Much Is Needed To React?
A spoonful of yogurt in a smoothie is different from a large bowl. In the milk ladder, yogurt is introduced AFTER baked milk products. If you tolerate baked milk in muffins, yogurt is a reasonable next test.
Does Preparation Matter?
Fermentation partially degrades whey proteins, which may explain better tolerance vs. liquid milk. Heating yogurt (in baking or cooking) further denatures proteins. Greek yogurt has more protein per serving than regular yogurt (higher casein load). Live-culture yogurt may offer gut health benefits that counteract some inflammation. [14]
